Crafted in stainless steel with Zaratsu hand-polishing applied to every surface, the SBGA083 presents Grand Seiko's refined case design in a wearable 39mm format, just 12.3mm in height, with razor-sharp edges and a mirror finish that borders on the surreal. A level of case finishing that Swiss brands charge considerably more to achieve, and that Grand Seiko delivers with quiet, almost stubborn confidence.
The champagne sunburst dial, known internally as the "F17", is among the most technically demanding dials Grand Seiko produces, requiring a 12-stage manufacturing process that results in a surface shifting from warm gold to cool silver and back again depending on the light. It looks almost matte up close, and luminous from a distance. Paired with applied indices and Zaratsu-polished hands, it is a dial that reveals itself differently every single time you look at it.
Powering the watch is the Grand Seiko Calibre 9R65, the manufacture's celebrated Spring Drive movement, combining a traditional mainspring with a Tri-synchro Regulator that achieves an accuracy of plus or minus 15 seconds per month. A perfectly smooth sweep of the seconds hand and a 72-hour power reserve complete a movement that is genuinely unlike anything else in watchmaking.
