FAQ

Anything you'd like to ask us.

01 Why sell to Minty rather than at auction?
Minty combines the discretion of a private dealer with the transparency you'd expect from a serious marketplace. We're direct buyers, backed by a private network of collectors actively looking for fine timepieces, which means a firm offer, no hidden fees, no public listing, and a bank transfer within 48 hours of acceptance. You deal with one team from valuation to payment, in our Geneva showroom or remotely.
02 Which brands do you buy?
We mainly buy Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Cartier, but remain open to other established manufactures. If you're unsure whether your watch fits, send us a photo and we'll tell you straight away.
03 How is the offer calculated?
We benchmark every piece against live auction results, current market data and our private buyer network. Brand, reference, condition, year, original box and papers, and accessories all weigh in. The number we quote is firm, provided the watch is as described.
04 Do the original box and papers matter?
Yes, significantly on most modern references. A complete set (box, warranty card, booklets, original tags) can meaningfully lift the offer. Vintage pieces are evaluated more individually, but provenance always helps.
05 How long is your offer valid?
The watch market moves quickly, so our offers are firm for 48 hours from the moment you receive them. After that, we may need to revise depending on market conditions.
06 How do I get the watch to you?
Once we've agreed on a price, you choose. Either drop it off in person at our Geneva showroom (preferred, and the fastest route to payment), or we send you a fully insured DHL Express label covering the full quoted amount. We'll guide you on packaging.
07 What if my package is lost, stolen or damaged?
The shipping label we provide is fully insured for the agreed offer amount. If anything happens in transit, you're covered for the full quoted price and we handle the claim with you.
08 Do I need to provide identification?
Yes. Once an offer is accepted, we ask for a photo of your ID. The original purchase invoice may also be requested. It's a standard anti-fraud measure that protects both sides in case a watch is later reported stolen.
09 How is consignment different from selling outright?
Selling outright means we buy the watch from you directly. Quick, firm price, paid within 48 hours. Consignment means we market it to our network until the right buyer appears: typically a higher final price, but with a longer timeline (2 to 12 weeks). Both options are commission-free on the outright side; consignment carries a transparent fee from 5 %.

Bring it in, in Geneva.

Once we've agreed on a price, you choose how to hand over your watch. Ship it to us with insured delivery, or drop it off at our Geneva showroom over a coffee or whisky. Either way, the bank transfer is on its way the same day.
