Rare, technically advanced, and deeply iconic, the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16660, nicknamed the “Triple Six,” holds a prominent place in the world of vintage professional dive watches. This model, dating from 1983, is offered here as a standalone watch in collector's condition, with its original bezel, dial, hands, and bracelet—a configuration highly sought after by purists. A direct evolution of the 1665 reference, this 16660 marked a technical breakthrough for the Sea-Dweller: sapphire crystal, reinforced helium escape valve, water resistance increased to 1,220 meters, and, most importantly, the introduction of the Rolex 3035 automatic caliber with quickset date and improved chronometric performance.
The 40 mm Oyster case in steel, with its robust design and thick lugs, is complemented by a unidirectional steel bezel with its original black insert, subtly patinated. The matte black dial of this version is a Mark I or II (to be confirmed depending on the specific example), with a uniform beige patina on the tritium hour markers, perfectly matching the original hands. It is fitted with a 93160 Oyster bracelet with solid links, appropriate for the period.
