The Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42, reference AB0118221G1A1, is the watch that announced Breitling's return to its pre-war roots in fine dress watchmaking, a beautifully considered combination of vintage-inspired aesthetics and cutting-edge manufacture movement technology. Crafted in stainless steel, the AB0118221G1A1 presents the Premier B01 in a perfectly proportioned 42mm round case measuring just 13.65mm in height, with a sleek profile and polished and brushed surfaces that give the watch a refined, dressy character entirely distinct from Breitling's more familiar aviation and dive references. Elegant enough for a business dinner, interesting enough to talk about at one.
The silver sunburst "Panda" dial is the centrepiece of this reference, with its high-contrast combination of a silvered background and dark chronograph subdials for hours, minutes, and small seconds delivering that instantly covetable vintage chronograph aesthetic. Applied stick and dot hour markers, a date aperture, and a tachymeter scale on the outer ring complete a dial that is as legible as it is handsome.
Powering the watch is the Breitling Manufacture Calibre B01, one of the most accomplished in-house chronograph movements in the industry, featuring column wheel construction, a vertical clutch, and COSC chronometer certification for outstanding precision. Visible in full through the sapphire crystal caseback, it is a movement worthy of extended admiration.
