The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph "Expedition Charles Darwin", reference IW379503, is a watch of extraordinary character and historical significance, marking the first time in IWC's history that bronze was used for a watch case, in a tribute to the great naturalist whose observations on the Galápagos Islands during the voyage of the HMS Beagle led to his landmark conclusions on the diversity of species. This certified pre-owned example from 2019 is offered in very good condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories.

Crafted in bronze, the IW379503 presents the Aquatimer Chronograph in a commanding 44mm round case measuring 17mm in height, with a rotating bronze SafeDive bezel combining an external and internal mechanism for maximum diver safety, a titanium caseback engraved with a tribute to the Charles Darwin expedition, and a screw-down crown securing 300 metres of water resistance. The bronze case will continue to develop its own unique patina over time, ensuring that no two examples of this watch ever look exactly alike.

The black dial is bold and deeply legible, with luminescent stick and Arabic numeral hour markers, two chronograph subdials for minutes and seconds, and a date display at 3 o'clock, all delivered with the no-nonsense legibility that professional dive instrument design demands. A flyback chronograph function adds a level of operational speed and convenience that makes timing a dive sequence genuinely practical.

Powering the watch is the IWC Manufacture Calibre 89365, a fully in-house automatic flyback chronograph movement with 35 jewels, 294 components, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with Côtes de Genève and perlage finishing, and an impressive 68-hour power reserve. A movement as technically accomplished as the watch that houses it.

The watch is delivered on its original black rubber strap with IWC's patented quick-change system and bronze buckle.
