The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, reference 116520, is the first Daytona powered entirely by a Rolex in-house movement, introduced in 2000 and immediately recognised as a landmark reference in the history of the collection, delivering the legendary Daytona name with a level of mechanical independence that the previous Zenith-based reference could not claim. This certified pre-owned example from 2006 is offered in very good condition and comes with its original papers.
Crafted entirely in stainless steel, the 116520 features a commanding 40mm Oyster case measuring 12.4mm in height, with a stainless steel tachymeter bezel engraved with precision, screw-down pushers, and a Triplock screw-down crown delivering 100 metres of water resistance. A solid caseback and an Oyster bracelet complete a package that is as purposefully resolved as any sport watch Rolex has ever produced.
The white dial is clean, luminous, and deeply legible, with applied stick and dot hour markers, three chronograph subdials for small seconds, 30 minutes, and 12 hours rendered in contrasting black, and clean stick hands delivering outstanding clarity at every glance. The classic "reverse Panda" configuration, understated and immediately collector-approved, that lets the engineering of the movement speak more loudly than the dial ever needs to.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 4130, the entirely in-house automatic chronograph movement featuring a column wheel, vertical clutch, and a generous 72-hour power reserve. One of the finest chronograph movements ever produced by any manufacture at any price.
The watch is fitted with the Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp and Easylink comfort extension system, offering effortless fine adjustment of up to 5mm for the perfect fit at any time.
