The Rolex Explorer II "Polar", reference 16570, is one of the most beloved and collectible references in the entire Explorer II lineage, its crisp white dial earning the "Polar" nickname among collectors and its combination of vintage proportions and professional tool watch credentials making it one of the most sought-after pre-owned Rolex references of its generation. This certified pre-owned example from 1995 is offered in very good condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories, a genuinely exceptional find for a thirty-year-old watch.
Crafted entirely in stainless steel, the 16570 presents the Explorer II in its classic 40mm Oyster case with a fixed 24-hour graduated bezel that works in perfect tandem with the watch's most iconic feature: the bold orange "Freccione" 24-hour hand that sweeps around the dial once every 24 hours, standing out dramatically against the white dial in a contrast that is as purposeful as it is visually striking. A watch built for professionals who need to distinguish day from night in environments where natural light cannot help.
The white dial is clean, crisp, and deeply legible, with large luminescent Maxi hour markers, a date display at 3 o'clock magnified by Rolex's signature Cyclops lens, and the overall sense of purposefulness that defines the Explorer II family at its finest. Three decades on, it has lost nothing of its authority.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 3185, a highly proven in-house automatic movement with GMT function, Parachrom hairspring, and a 48-hour power reserve. The movement that defined the Explorer II for over a decade, and that continues to perform flawlessly in well-preserved examples.
The watch is fitted with the Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp, retaining the authentic character of its era.
Available now at Minty Watches, this certified pre-owned luxury watch is a rare opportunity for collectors of pre-owned luxury timepieces in Geneva seeking a fully documented vintage Explorer II in exceptional original condition.
A pre-owned watch in Geneva that has been finding its way since 1995, and never once got lost.
