The Rolex Explorer II "Polar", reference 226570, is the white dial variant of the current Explorer II, earning its evocative nickname from the glacial brightness of its dial and its historical association with polar expeditions where distinguishing daylight from darkness is a matter of genuine consequence. This certified pre-owned example from 2024 is offered in very good condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories.
Crafted entirely in Oystersteel, the 226570 features a commanding 42mm Oyster case water resistant to 100 metres, paired with a fixed 24-hour graduated bezel in stainless steel that works in perfect tandem with the watch's most distinctive feature: the bold orange "Freccione" 24-hour hand sweeping around the dial once every 24 hours, standing out dramatically against the white dial in a contrast that is as purposeful as it is visually arresting.
The white "Polar" dial is clean, bright, and extraordinarily legible, with large Chromalight-filled Maxi hands and hour markers delivering outstanding readability in any light condition, and a date display at 3 o'clock completing a layout that is as functional as it is elegant. Against the white background, every detail is crisp, sharp, and immediately readable. A dial that earns its nickname every single day.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 3285, a state-of-the-art in-house automatic movement featuring a Chronergy escapement and Parachrom hairspring for outstanding precision, magnetic resistance, and a generous 70-hour power reserve. A significant upgrade over the previous generation Calibre 3187 and one of the finest movements Rolex has ever fitted to the Explorer II.
The watch is fitted with the Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp and Glidelock extension system, offering a secure and comfortable fit for any adventure.
