The Patek Philippe Calatrava, reference 5196G-001, is the purest distillation of what a dress watch should be, a direct descendant of the legendary reference 96 Calatrava of 1932 and a timepiece that has defined horological elegance for generations. Crafted in 18k white gold, the 5196G-001 presents the Calatrava in a beautifully restrained 37mm round case measuring just 7.68mm in height, with the hobnail-patterned caseband and stepped bezel that are the hallmarks of the original Calatrava design. A case that has never needed updating because it was conceived perfectly from the very beginning.
The silver dial is an exercise in absolute refinement, with applied stick and dot hour markers, elegant Dauphine hands, and a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock providing the only complication this watch will ever need.
