The Rolex Day-Date, reference 1803, is the original “President’s watch”, the reference that cemented the Day-Date’s status as the most prestigious timepiece in the Rolex catalogue and the choice of heads of state, industry leaders, and cultural icons across five decades. This certified pre-owned example is offered in good condition and is presented as watch only.
Crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold, the 1803 presents the Day-Date in its classic 36mm round case with a plexi crystal that is entirely faithful to the watch as it was produced at the height of its era, and that gives the watch an immediate vintage warmth and character that sapphire crystal simply cannot replicate. Water resistant to 50 metres and finished to the standard of luxury that defined Rolex’s flagship reference throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The champagne sunburst dial is warm, deeply luminous, and entirely characteristic of Rolex’s finest vintage dial production, with applied yellow gold stick and dot hour markers and baton hands that have developed the natural patina of over fifty years of careful ownership. A dial that is not merely aged but genuinely beautiful in its age, carrying the visual depth and warmth that only time and quality can produce together.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 1556, a reliable in-house automatic movement featuring quickset day and date functions, delivering the precision and dependability that defined Rolex’s manufacture movements throughout this era.
