The Rolex Explorer, reference 114270, is the mid-generation Explorer that bridged the gap between the iconic 14270 and the current 124270, a watch that carried the Explorer's essential DNA with complete conviction and has since found a dedicated following among collectors who appreciate its specific character and proportions. Crafted entirely in stainless steel, the 114270 presents the Explorer in its classic 36mm Oyster case with solid end links, clean profile, and smooth bezel keeping the focus entirely on the dial. Introduced in 2001 as the direct successor to the 14270, it brought the Explorer firmly into the modern era while preserving every element that made the original so enduringly loved. Robust, wearable, and built without a single unnecessary concession.
The black dial is as honest and purposeful as the watch itself, with the iconic Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, luminescent hour markers, and Chromalight-filled hands delivering outstanding legibility in any condition.
