The Rolex Submariner Date, reference 16610, is one of the most iconic and beloved dive watches ever made, the reference that defined the modern Submariner for an entire generation of collectors and enthusiasts from its introduction in 1989 through to 2010. This certified pre-owned example from 2001 is offered in excellent condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories.
Crafted entirely in stainless steel, the 16610 features a robust 40mm Oyster case water resistant to 300 metres, paired with a unidirectional rotatable bezel fitted with a black anodised aluminium insert, the classic pre-Cerachrom format that gives this reference its distinctly vintage-leaning character and its strong following among collectors who prefer the look of the old-school bezel. A watch that wears its era with confidence and pride.
The gloss black dial features the SuperLuminova-filled Mercedes hands and stick hour markers that were introduced from 1999 onwards, delivering excellent legibility in any light condition above or below the surface. The date display at 3 o'clock, magnified by Rolex's signature Cyclops lens, completes a dial that is as purposeful and readable today as it was the day it left the Geneva manufacture.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 3135, one of the most proven and reliable in-house automatic movements Rolex has ever produced, certified as a chronometer and featuring a Parachrom hairspring for outstanding resistance to magnetic fields and shocks, with a 48-hour power reserve.
The watch is fitted with the Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp and extension system.
